How to Select the Right Current Probe

Current probes extend the application abilities of oscilloscopes beyond voltage measurement. Basically, current clamps measure the current flowing through a conductor and convert it into a voltage that is displayed on the oscilloscope. The most common technique for current measurement is to detect the magnetic field of the current-carrying conductor. There are many different types of current probes to choose from, and each one has an area of application where it works best.

Learn about the advantages and disadvantages of each probe type and how to choose the right probe in this Keysight overview.
