DAS1800 data logger in e-mobility.

„With 15 million wallboxes and one million publicly accessible charging points for electric vehicles, Germany is set to become the leading market for electromobility by 2030“, according to the german Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection.

Use the advanced functions of the DAS1800 modular data logger from Sefram to monitor, analyze and optimize battery systems, charging and drive components. Find out here, how the modular high-speed recorder can advance your projects in the field of electromobility.

Optimize electric vehicles and wallboxes with the DAS1800.

The DAS1800 has a high level of precision, which is essential for analyzing electrical systems in e-mobility. The multi-channel data acquisition makes it possible to record data from different sources simultaneously. Thanks to its robust housing and mobile application options, the data logger is easily adaptable to different requirements and environments. The D18-HIZ4 high-impedance module provides galvanic isolation of the channels for measurements on battery cell packs or drive trains (inverter/BLDC motor). The D18-MUX8 multiplexer module records physical variables such as temperature. Comprehensive data analysis functions and the large memory facilitate the evaluation of large amounts of data for the continuous improvement of vehicle performance.

The DAS1800 data logger supports you in optimizing your e-mobility projects around:

Battery monitoring and analysis

In e-mobility, monitoring battery performance and health is crucial. The DAS1800 can capture precise voltage, current and temperature data from battery cells. This enables a detailed analysis of battery conditions, including charging and discharging processes, to maximize battery efficiency and lifetime.

The ADC (Analog Digital Converter) resolution is 16 bit with a sample rate of up to 1 µS. Up to 40 ADC channels can record simultaneously, i.e. phase-synchronized. In addition, the isolated inputs ensure correct voltage measurements with potential difference without reference ground, for example within a battery pack or module.

  • Precise measurement of voltage, current and temperature of individual battery cells
  • Detailed analysis of charge and discharge cycles to maximize battery life and efficiency

Testing of charging infrastructures

The DAS1800 can be used to monitor and test chargers and charging stations, for example for power monitoring. In the case of bidirectional OBC (On Board Charger), it is possible to check the harmonics generated when energy is fed back into the power grid.

By recording voltage, current and power data, the device can help to assess the performance and reliability of the charging infrastructure. This ensures that the charging facilities operate safely and efficiently.

  • Monitoring and testing of chargers and charging stations
  • Performance evaluation to ensure the reliability and efficiency of your charging equipment

Motor and drive monitoring

In electric vehicles, it is important to monitor the motor and drive systems in order to optimize their performance and efficiency. The DAS1800 can collect data from various sensors that measure e.g. speed, torque, temperature and other relevant parameters. This data can be used to analyze drive performance and detect potential problems at an early stage. The DAS1800 also offers the option of supplying external sensors with power. These are typically sensors that record physical parameters in a vehicle.

  • Recording of speed, torque and temperature for a comprehensive analysis of drive performance
  • Early detection of problems to improve system reliability
  • Mains-independent operation thanks to equipment with optional lithium-ion battery

Vehicle testing and validation

When developing and testing electric vehicles, the DAS1800 can be used to carry out vehicle tests and validate new systems and components. By collecting and analyzing large amounts of data, engineers can evaluate the performance and reliability of vehicles under different conditions.

  • Comprehensive vehicle testing to validate new systems and components
  • Detailed data analysis for performance evaluation under different conditions
  • Time synchronization of captured data or recordings with other measurement tools through the optionally available GPS/IRIG signal module

Powertrain and energy management

Effective energy management is crucial for the range and efficiency of electric vehicles. The DAS1800 can help to monitor and optimize the energy balance and energy flow within the vehicle. The BLDC motor (three-phase brushless DC) with its inverter/motor controller is usually part of the powertrain.

In the field of energy management, the DAS1800 can determine the efficiency of inverters, for example, by measuring the ratio of input to output power. This includes analyzing energy consumption, recuperation and energy distribution to various consumers in the vehicle.

  • Optimization of the energy balance and energy flow in the vehicle, to identify "energy guzzlers"
  • Analysis of energy consumption and recuperation to maximize vehicle range
