The ADA400A differential preamplifier can be used for direct oscilloscope measurements of non-earthed voltages and signals with very low amplitude. The high impedance of both inputs means that no additional earthing points are required at the device under test. This avoids equalizing currents that interfere with the measurement or the circuit. The high amplification factor and very high common mode rejection achieve usable measurement results even at low voltages of approx. 5 μV, even in environments with high noise.
The selectable bandwidth limitation reduces the noise in normal mode caused by digital, logic switching power supplies and mains frequency sources. The customizable differential offset allows the user to mask the transducer bias and galvanic potential of the test setup. The "infinite impedance" mode can be selected in the two highest gain ranges, allowing signals with high output impedance to be measured precisely.
