The Picotest P2105A probe is a 50 ohm 1-port transmission-line "browser" probe for TDR applications. This precision probe supports a variety of measurements using the 1-port reflection method, primarily impedance and TDT/TDR, but also ripple, noise, PCB power rail, VRM (Voltage Regulator Module), and clock jitter. It offers significant advantages over active probes and other types of passive probes.

The P2105A is referred to as a "browser" probe because it can be easily and quickly moved from point-to-point/rail-to-rail by repositioning the measurement points. The probe achieves very low tip inductance to reduce space requirements on a dense PCB. At the same time, there is no need to add additional SMA connectors or other test points required for impedance measurements. Repeated measurements are simplified because connection is made simply by touching the tip to the existing trace. This saves you time, especially when several splints have to be evaluated.

The P2105A is available in a variety of fixed pin pitches (31, 40, 50, 60, 70, or 100 mil pitch with 1x attenuation; GSG SMA and custom pitches are also available).

The probe is compatible with all 50 ohm devices including the J2154A PerfectPulse TDR, vector network analyzers (VNA), oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers. The probe is designed for use with the traditional single-ended TDR setup.

In addition to the P2105A-1X-50-SMA variant presented here with 50 ohms, 1x attenuation, SMA connection and pitch size: 50 mil, the P2105A browser probe is also available in the following variants:
