The "LabVIEW Basics 1" seminar teaches you the basics of developing applications in the LabVIEW programming environment. Get to know the LabVIEW program interface, data flow programming and common LabVIEW development techniques. In this course, you will learn how to develop applications for data acquisition (DAQ), device control, data logging, and measurement analysis.

After completing this course, you will be able to use various editing and debugging techniques and create applications using the state machine design pattern to acquire, process, display, and store measurements with DAQ, GPIB, or serial port devices. You will also learn how to create and save VIs for use as subVIs.

Overview of topics:

  • Interactively acquire and analyze data from NI hardware (NI DAQ devices) and third-party devices (GPIB devices).
  • Create and program a LabVIEW application to acquire, analyze and visualize data
  • Create user interfaces with diagrams, graphs and buttons
  • Use programming structures, data types, and analysis and signal processing algorithms in LabVIEW
  • Troubleshooting and error handling in applications
  • Working with single- or multi-channeldata sets
  • Logging data to a file
  • Using programming best practices for code reusability and readability
  • Implementing a sequencer with a state machine design pattern
