Keysight N7909A | 1,000 W current sink for 2-quadrant operation in connection with the power supplies of the N6900A or N7900A series.

  • Enables 100% of the functionality of a 1000 watt 2-quadrant power load
  • Load current limits can be set to protect the unit to be tested or supplied from overload
  • By default, the driving voltage for the current sink is programmed in such a way that the current limit is not exceeded. This is important for units to be tested that have a large number of capacitances connected in parallel.
  • All of the protective mechanisms mentioned above can also be used with the power supplies (without the N7909A), but only in the load range of 10% of the performance data of the power supply used.

Description

N7909A | Advanced Power System - Power Dissipator Unit, 1000 W for power supplies N6900 series

The N7909A current sink enables 2-quadrant operation with the Keysight N6900A and N7900A series power supplies. The power supplies of this series can be used as a current sink for 10% of their rated power. A single sink N7909A extends the power range up to 1000 watts.

To use the power packs with an output power of 2000 W, you need two of these N7909A units to implement a current sink with a total of 2000 watts of power.
With an N7909A in conjunction with a 2 kW power supply, a sink with 50% utilization of the power supply's performance data can be implemented.

For a continuous 2-quadrant function, the current sinks are achieved with the power supply via a 2-wire power connection and a data connection carried out on the rear of the device.

The N7909A sink is 1U high and takes up the full 19-inch rack width.

The N7909A unit cannot be used as a stand-alone unit, but only in conjunction with the N6900A or N7900A series power supplies.
