The module is specially designed for the analysis of the discharge processes of batteries. With a DUT (device under test), e.g. For example, an e-book, a cell phone or an MP3 player or another mobile device, the N6781A can analyze the discharge curve and the discharge process of the battery. It is advantageous that this module has a programmable output resistor and a digital voltmeter. The combination of the basic device and the module thus becomes a test system that is unique in the industry for applications such as the testing of the discharge process of a battery in a mobile device. The 14585A software supports this configuration and offers additional measurement options.

The distinguishing feature of the measuring system is that dynamic processes, such as battery discharge, can be measured with high precision without transients or distortions when changing the measuring range. If the battery voltage of the DUT is reduced by the discharge, the SMU automatically and seamlessly selects the current and voltage measuring range that allows the best possible accuracy. A patented technology that Keysight (formerly Agilent's electronic measurement technology) calls "Seamless Measurement Ranging".

Particularly noteworthy with this module N6781A is that e.g. B. the measurement of a very large jump in current can take place without switching a measuring range.
