34465A | Multimeter, TRMS, 6 ½ digits, Truevolt (344xxA)

The 6½-digit 34465A digital multimeter with "Truevolt" technology from Keysight offers a multitude of measurement options and measured value displays that are unique for a DMM (Digital Multi Meter). "Truevolt" is an innovative, patented A / D converter technology with which external factors such as noise and the load on the measuring point are eliminated by the measurement. The measurement accuracy of 0.003% thus achieved is unmatched for DMM in this price range.

This voltmeter 34465A is the consequent further development of the 3446x series and is 100% software compatible with the multimeter 34401A. Truevolt technology already offers very high measurement accuracy, which has been increased even further with this device. The 34465A has current measurement ranges from 1 µA to 10A (DC) and 100 µA to 10 A (AC) and voltage measurement ranges from 100 mV to 1,000 V with a basic accuracy for DC voltage measurements of 30 ppm, which corresponds to 0.003%. Especially for circuits for mobile devices, where the measurement of very low currents is important, this device is very well suited due to the small DC current measuring range of 1 µA.

Temperature measurements can be carried out with RTD / PT100, thermistors and thermocouples.

Keysight defines "DMM" for these Truevolt devices in: Display, Measure, Move:

  • The display , with a diagonal of 109 mm, offers the measured values in a pure number, as a combination of numbers and bars, histograms, statistics and in a trend display.
  • Measure : With the patented A / D converter technology, external influences on the measured values are eliminated, e.g. B. noise introduced by the power supply and environmental, injected noise or injected current. When digitally measuring alternating variables using direct sampling technology and A / D conversion, a much faster and more accurate RMS measurement is carried out.
  • Move : measurement curves - save, display, take away. Easy export of measurement data from one or time-correlated from several devices to an external USB stick, PC or to mobile devices such as a tablet PC or smartphone. Data or display curves can easily be exported to Microsoft Excel, Word or to MATLAB. The DMM Mobile Utility software can be downloaded with freely available software from the Apple App Store. This allows devices connected via LAN to be checked and measurement values and curves to be transmitted. For long-term examinations, warnings can also be triggered, which inform the user in the event of unforeseen problems.

Other essential advantages of this digital voltmeter :

  • Continuous calibration of the measuring device during the measurement; this increases accuracy, since temperature changes in the workplace and the associated temperature drifts are compensated for.
  • Measurement of very small currents: With the 1 µA DC measuring range, statements can be made about the power consumption or the low currents can be measured for "energy harvesting" applications.
  • Faster insight into changes in a measured variable through the graphic display. Trends can be captured more quickly; The variance of a measured value can be assessed better and faster using histograms; particularly suitable for long-term measurements.
  • Crest factor measurements are the ratio of the peak value of a voltage in relation to the effective value. This value is particularly important if the proportion of voltage peaks and voltage peaks has to be estimated for low-frequency (50 Hz or 60 Hz) supply systems.
  • Flexibility through the measurement of another measurand e.g. B. of temperature, frequency or capacity and the setting of measurement limits or the use of further trigger conditions in order to determine the measurement set-up or to determine the starting conditions for a measurement and to determine the recording and storage of the measured values.
  • Selection between measuring speed and resolution in order to obtain optimal measurements with corresponding measuring speed. The measuring speed can be adjusted for a given measuring accuracy.
