The 3700A series switching and data acquisition system offers scalable, device-specific switching and multichannel measurement solutions that are optimized for the automated testing of electronic products and components. The 3700A series comprises four variants of the data logger mainframe 3706A, whereby two basic devices are equipped with an integrated 7½-digit high-performance digital multimeter (DMM). All basic units 3706A each contain six slots for plug-in modules in a compact housing that is only 2 U high.
When fully occupied, a mainframe 3706A-S can support up to 576 multiplexer channels with two lines, thereby offering unprecedented channel density and cost savings per channel. The result is a fully integrated switching and measurement solution that is equally suitable for use in the laboratory or in a rack.
Variety of applications thanks to plug-in cards:
The wide functionality of the available plug-in cards makes the 3700A data acquisition system a flexible and economical measurement solution. Up to six modules can be used in the basic device 3706A-S and thus configure it to a compact data logger, a full measurement data acquisition system or a cost-effective switching unit. When fully occupied, a mainframe can support up to 576 multiplexer channels with two lines. The growing family of plug-in switching and control cards, together with the internal high-performance DMM, enables the construction of a compact measuring and switching system for functional tests in the laboratory and in production environments.

Software for controlling the matrix system:
Measurement paths and measurements can be set or carried out with the 3700A in two ways: either via the PC or via a test script processor (TSP). The TSP increases the test speed considerably. Development times and costs for test programs and in particular the test duration in production can be reduced as a result. By creating a test script that is loaded into the integrated microprocessor, self-sufficient test procedures can be carried out. The bypassed slow PC device communication leads to a significantly higher test throughput.
All 3706A mainframes contain a USB interface on the front for easy transfer of measured values, system configurations and TSP test scripts to memory sticks.
