A DC power supply that can simulate the performance of a battery under many different conditions is required to test portable, battery-operated devices under realistic conditions. The 2300 series for battery simulation can simulate the output resistance of a battery as well as the output voltage.
The Keithley 2308 is a battery / charger simulator for cell phones and other portable devices. The 2308's quick response to load changes is ideal for simulating the transition from sleep mode to full power transfer mode.
The Keithley 2308 has two independent power supply channels: one is optimized to simulate a battery; the second channel is optimized to work like a charger for a rechargeable battery. The variable output resistance of the battery channel can be used to simulate the internal resistance of a battery, so that designers and test engineers can simulate the output of a battery to test devices under realistic operating conditions.
Product features 2300 series:
- Extremely quick response to temporary load currents that emulate the behavior of batteries identically
- Variable output resistance simulates the internal battery resistance
- Pulse peak, average and base load current measurements
- DC sensitivity of 100 nA for monitoring low sleep mode currents of battery powered devices
- Function for measuring current steps for load current measurement at every level of the device operating status
- Lowering down to 3 A to simulate a discharged battery
