XTREME | Clearance sale launch fiber case with 1 x multimode (DT1434_1906_L)

For use in harsh environments and daily use in the field, DIAMOND offers a suitable series of launch fiber cases in black. These cases offer space for up to four (identical or different) fiber rings. They are made of impact-resistant plastic and offer IP67 protection for the measuring cables when closed.

The desired fibers are wound up without mechanical stress, combined and stored in a non-slip manner with a strain-relieving cable clamp. The impact-resistant cover of the lower half of the case is screwed on and labeled with the respective fiber specifications. The fiber ends that are led out are 2.5 m long and protected with a hollow cable with a diameter of 3 mm. The lower half of the case is aligned so that the cable versions with measuring plugs can be stored properly.

The case is delivered with a service booklet in which, in addition to the optical master data of the selected fibers, the OTDR measurements and connector end faces are documented upon delivery. This allows traceability from delivery through the usage cycles. In addition, cleaning instructions for connectors and connector faces are included.

OTDR measuring devices are used in many different ways in fiber optic technology. They enable extensive characterization of already installed fiber optic cabling networks. To ensure precise evaluation of results, the use of launch and tail fibers is necessary. In bidirectional backscatter measurements with launch and tail fibers, the attenuation values of the first and last connectors can be determined precisely by averaging and device dead zones can be avoided. Measuring device manufacturers recommend this application in order to avoid so-called "ghost reflections" and to guarantee well-defined starting conditions for measuring installed fiber links.

These launch and tail fibers are also subject to measuring device monitoring and should be regularly inspected in accordance with the OTDR measuring devices. A good measurement result depends heavily on the condition and quality of the measuring equipment used.
