The non-sinusoidal power consumption of electronic consumers, large starting currents of electric motors and other switching operations lead to harmonics and network perturbations. Symptoms of this are heavily loaded neutral conductors, overheated motors, false tripping of RCDs and overcurrent protection devices, defective power factor correction systems, etc...
Self-inflicted quality losses through incorrectly dimensioned conductor cross-sections, the use of screw terminals or the laying of PEN conductors also lead to similar symptoms.
In order to be able to recognize and correctly assess these symptoms, it is helpful to carry out a metrological network analysis.
Goal of the seminar:
The aim of the seminar is to explain the basic relationships between the origin and effects of harmonics and network perturbations. Through many practical experiments, the participants are familiarized with the measurement technology. The Power Quality Analyzer Qualistar+ is in the foreground for this. After the seminar, each participant should be able to carry out a network analysis independently with the Qualistar+ and correctly interpret the measured values.
