The BD 11 is used to detect a burst or ESD current pulse on a cable, e.g. in a complex system. This makes it easier to investigate the cause of sporadic faults in the system. It is small and handy, its sensitivity is very high and infinitely adjustable.
The BD 11 detects the magnetic field generated by the burst current. Detected interference pulses are indicated by an LED on the detector and can be transmitted as a signal via a relay output (potential-free) or a fiber optic cable to various evaluation devices (e.g. for logging or emergency shutdown of the monitored system). The pulse width is approx. 100 ms. The BD 11 contains a memory.
