Description

B618007 | AC load option, regenerative, for grid simulator 61809/12/15

The Chroma 61809/61812/61815 models are available with an optional regenerative AC load function (B618007). This option allows a single device to act as either an AC load or an AC source. This feature is intended for, but not limited to, EVSE charging stations, hybrid PV inverters, UPS and bi-directional on-board chargers (BOBC).

Powerful hardware
When operating in AC load mode, the Chroma 61809 / 61812 / 61815 not only offer the four-quadrant regenerative function with energy savings, they are also selectable as single or three phase. In addition, three units can be operated in parallel, giving a 45 kW AC load test solution.

Flexible setting mode
The Chroma 61809 / 61812 / 61815 regenerative AC load function includes constant current, constant power and constant impedance modes. An additional adjustment parameter is the crest factor (CF) or voltage/current phase difference (Θ), which includes rectified mode and lead/lag mode, respectively. Rectified mode can simulate the characteristics of a rectified load by adjusting the crest factor from 1.414 to 3, resulting in a non-sinusoidal load function. The lead/lag mode simulates the characteristics of a capacitive or inductive load by adjusting the phase lead or lag from 0°~90° between voltage and current.

Half-wave charging function
The regenerative AC load option offers half-wave charging capability via CC Rectified Mode. It can provide positive and negative half-wave loading, as well as 90° leading and trailing edge loading that simulates the characteristics of an SCR/TRIAC. Applications include simulating the stress of temperature/light controlled home appliances, protection circuits, induction motors, and testing voltage source output stability.

Stable load capacity
The Chroma 61809 / 61812 / 61815 regenerative AC load provides a standby load function when the voltage source starts up or is interrupted. It can be used to test the endurance and reliability of an inverter or UPS when switched on with a load and various voltage dips, swells and other interruptions.
